How has attending an HBCU set you up for success?
Attending an HBCU has provided me with a network of mentors, opportunities, and experiences that help facilitate my growth. So many intelligent and talented people surround me. I can't help but be inspired every time I walk on campus.
How are you looking to contribute to the professional world upon graduation?
Upon graduation, I am looking to work in fashion, media, or corporate sales marketing. I plan to use the knowledge, cultural competence, and training I have received from Howard to impact my industry significantly. I want to use my creative, social, and spiritual gifts to make positive changes within the professional world and give to others.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be the owner of a media production company and provide mentorship and work opportunities for youth interested in tv/film, radio, and photography. I also want to run my and my brothers' clothing brand, Homme D'or.
How do you express your personal sense of style through fashion?
I express my style through jewelry, hair styling, and color. Green is my favorite color to wear at the moment. Green represents progress and life to me. My hair is essential to my different aesthetics. Whether my locs are tied up, pulled back with a hairband, or flowing freely from my head, each look is intentional and an expression of how I am approaching the world that day.
What role will you play in the future of fashion?
I will provide marketing, creative direction, and content creation for many fashion brands. Through Homme D'or, I want to create fun, stylish, and comfortable clothing for everyone. I want to incorporate the nostalgic nature of hand-drawn illustrations with modern trends.
